3 African American/black Male Experiences With Mental Health
I am seeking to interview African-American/Black males who have used mental health services while on Medicaid. The aim of this study is to investigate how racial, gender, and socio-economic identities intersect to affect mental healthcare access for African American males. The study is being conducted to fulfill dissertation requirements of Adler University.
Participants must meet the following criteria:
- Identify as an African American/Black Male
- Be between the ages of 18 and 37
- Have one of the following Illinois Medicaid Health insurance plans and used it within the past 2 years to access mental health services.
- BlueCross Community Health Plan; IlliniCare Health; Meridian Health Plan; Molina Healthcare; CountyCare Health or NextLevel Health Partner
I need approximately 1 hour of your time for an in-person/over the phone/Skype interview. The interview will be audio-recorded and ask questions about your thoughts, expectations, and experiences accessing mental health services. All information will be de-identified and remain confidential. Participants who qualify and then complete the interview will receive a $20 Visa or Amazon gift card for their time.
