Childhood Sexual Abuse And Sister Relationships
My name is Nakia Hubbard and I am a 5th year doctoral student at Adler University. I am currently seeking interested individuals to participate in a study that will investigate the relationship between co-surviving sisters of childhood sexual abuse. The purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of the essence of the lived experience of being disclosed to and providing support to a sister who survived childhood sexual abuse.
I am looking for participants who meet the following criteria:
- Are female
- Are between the ages of 18 and 25
- Have a sister who experienced ongoing or repeated sexual abuse before the age of 18, disclosed the abuse to you, and is currently at least 18 years of age
I will need to call you for about 15 minutes to make sure that you meet criteria to participate in the study and answer any questions you might have. If you are eligible for the study, I will meet with you in-person or via a VSee video interview. The interview will take approximately one hour. The content will include the following areas: how you learned of the abuse, your responses to the disclosure, and your relationship with your sister. As a participant in this study, you will also be asked a series of questions about who you are, including age, occupation, and level of education. You will also be asked a few questions related to your childhood, relationships with other immediate family members, and your own personal history with abuse. I will further be asking for your permission to audio record the interview.
Participation in this study is completely voluntary. Participants will receive a $20 Amazon gift card upon completion of the interview.
If any questions or concerns arise, please contact Nakia Hubbard at firstname.lastname@example.org.
