Colorism Study
Dear Ethnic/Racial Minority Woman Candidates,
We are writing to invite you to participate in the research project, Colorism: The Psychological Effects of Skin Color Discrimination Among Ethnic/Racial Minority Women, provided that you are age 18 or over, identify as a woman from one of the three ethnic/racial minority backgrounds (Hispanic/Latinx, Black/African American, Asian American) and U.S born. Although we know colorism is persistent and a troubling issue for women in both personal and professional settings, the psychological literature has little information about the current experiences of ethnic/racial minority women and the impact it has on their psychological well-being.
Your participation would involve filling out an anonymous questionnaire, which includes both responding to questions on Yes/No and Likert-type scales. The entire survey is anticipated to take 20 minutes to complete. Please note that the survey does ask about colorism experiences, participation is entirely voluntary, and that you are free to withdraw at any time. This study has been certified by the Adler University Institutional Review Board, protocol # 20-069. You may contact me at the info provided below, my dissertation chair, Dr. Peter Ji, pji@adler.edu, or the IRB at irb@adler.edu for questions.
