Spending most days sitting or standing - not moving? Need to get active, but hard to find the time? Are you interested in using a step counter to help you become more active? Take part in our research study (for people aged 40 or older). Study done by text, e-mail, internet, and telephone. Minimal time requirement.

The Boston Roybal Center for Active Lifestyle Interventions (RALI Boston) and researchers at Brandeis University are looking for individuals aged 40 and above to take part in a research study investigating the use of step counters. The study lasts 5 weeks, plus there is a follow-up questionnaire 1 month later. It involves wearing a small portable step counter (Fitbit - on your wrist or a clip - you choose) to keep track of steps taken every day (for the entire study through to follow-up). You communicate with our research team each day via brief texts, once a week via email for 5 weeks, and occasionally by telephone. It also involves filling out questionnaires online during the study. Those who complete the study will be able to keep the Fitbit and will receive a $25 bonus once they complete the study.
